  Sacred Surf Camps
A very different surf camp idea!
Sacred Surf Camps are based on the ideals of consideration and understanding of yourself and the environment in which this great sport is practiced. Groups of no more than eight students, with instruction from perhaps the Algarve's most environmentally sound school, will take a truly uplifting approach to a Surf Camp.
As well as at the beach and in the surf, there is a continued theme of personal development back at the camp, with facilitators offering diverse activities such as Massage, Reiki Healing, Reflexology and Indian Head Massage, as well as the numerous other activities already on offer at Conscious Earth.
At The Beach
Ooh... exciting stuff! You will be taken care of and instructed by a former Portuguese Surfing Champion and a lifelong dedicated surfer, hiker, climber and snowboarder. They are Gustavo Gouveia and Ricardo Goncalves. Both are fully accredited members of the FPS (Portuguese Surf Federation) and their surf school is currently benefiting from sponsorship by O'Neill and Polen Surf.
Ricardo is also a 6 year yoga practitioner and so will offer the very best kind of warm up before getting you into the surf.
As a fully FPS-accredited school, we can legally take you to some of the most spectacular surf spots on the West Coast which have acquired EU 'Parque Natural' status. Awesome stuff both in and out of the water.
You can surf from 9am 'til 6 pm, and in that time you will receive two 1.5 hour lessons. Then, when you are practicing what you have learned, you will be fully supervised at all times.
We take you to the beaches where the surf's up on that day in our own van. Your board, leg leash and wetsuit are all provided, but of course you can bring your own if you have them. Do remember that airline carriers are being a bit stingy on boards and stuff, so check it out first. The boards we provide are NSP and Sunset.
There may be days when you decide to get up at the crack of dawn for the pre-wind wave... or hang round for the stunning west coast sunsets watching the sun appear to boil into the ocean... there may even be a day when you just feel the ocean doesn't want you in there. No worries! Whatever you decide, we are there for you. We are not about pushing people beyond their own personal limits.
Meanwhile, back at Conscious-Earth...
...we're preparing for your chill time! There's loads of room to relax and unwind, hammocks to swing in and sofas to lounge on. There are always tunes to listen to under the shade shelter, or why not become surf camp table tennis or pool champ? (Watch it... we're getting pretty good!)
Take a relaxing stroll around the 100 acre estate or, if you still need more water action, we have a crystal clear swimming lake with a canoe.
Don't forget that surfing can be hard on the shoulders and neck so we can offer deep tissue therapeutic massage and other holistic therapies by arrangement. If you need to really relax then why not drift along to our very own wood burning candlelit sauna. Or for hot water action, we have Kiwi-style fire-baths (just ask us to explain) and depending on the time of year, we can have outdoor fires to sit round and discuss the monster wave that you rode all the way into the beach... yeeeee!
Accommodation
You'll be staying in either our 6.2 meter Sioux TeePee complete with raised wooden floor and comfortable mattressed beds, with the door facing the rising Algarvian sun and over looking our very own stone circle.
Alternatively, there is our 120 year old traditional stone round house with 50cm thick walls and wood burner or Fiji-style wooden burree.
If you have a dwelling of your own then you are welcome to bring it if you can.
Whether working or playing this is very important to us. We start with a hearty breakfast, lunch is at about 1:00pm. Either back at base or out in the field... then dinner is served at around 7:00pm. We can cater to veggies and meaties - just let us know. All plates and mugs n stuff provided... we all wash up together. (Hmmm... sounds like a song!)
This is our informal bar for refreshing cold beers and the like. Sometimes you can be served, but it mainly operates on an honesty box system.
Note : All fresh drinking water is from our spring and is therefore completely free!
Group minimum size is 6 people - maximum is 10. For any special requirements, just ask. Generally we like to keep groups to a maximum of 10 peeps but if you are planning a bigger or smaller group then chat to us. Most groups are a mixed bag of people from all over, but if you have a pre-arranged group then just chat to us - we are open to all dynamics of groups.

We try and organise weeks when the flights seem to be cheaper for those of you coming from the UK. We have had people here who flew from Bournemouth really cheaply, but you will have to look around to get the best deal.
We are well aware of the carbon footprint implications of flights, but please be assured you will be contributing to counter balance this effect - part of your fee goes towards purchasing new trees for our conservation weeks.
